What is a dental implant?

Dental implant treatment is the most durable, long-lasting and effective solution to replace missing teeth available on today's market. It's one of the most popular cosmetic treatments we offer.

The treatment consists of a titanium screw that is placed in your jawbone, which acts as a replacement root. Once the area is healed, you'll come back to the practice for a second appointment to permanently fix your bespoke tooth onto the screw.

After your procedure, you'll be left with a permanent tooth that blends in seamlessly with the rest of your natural teeth. The dental implants function just as a normal tooth would, with no extra dental care required.

What are the benefits of dental implant treatment?

Dental implant treatment has a range of benefits that makes it an ever-growing popular choice for many of our dental patients at Dee Dental. Some of these benefits include:

  • Looks fantastic
  • Improves oral health
  • Permanent and durable
  • Requires no additional care - can be looked after just as a normal tooth
  • No more uncomfortable removable false teeth
  • Very safe and low-risk procedure.

Please note that you will still be required to maintain good oral hygiene, such as brushing and flossing every day, to prevent gum disease and further treatment.

What services do we offer?

Our implant specialist offers various types of implant dentistry, including single, multiple and full arch.

Single Tooth Replacement

Our single tooth implant treatment is quick, painless, and can replace a single missing tooth in as little as one or two hours. The replacement implant can last a lifetime if properly cared for and effectively fixes missing or severely damaged teeth.

Multiple Tooth Replacement

Our multiple tooth replacement treatments are a perfect choice when you need to replace multiple adjacent teeth. Creating one larger dental implant instead of multiple smaller ones can dramatically cut the treatment cost while still giving you a reliable set of new teeth.

Full Arch & Mouth Implants

If your teeth have been damaged to the extent that you will need to replace a full arch (set of teeth), we provide the All-On-Four dental treatment. This treatment consists of four implants that can secure a set of dentures in place. The All-On-Four treatment is generally better than regular fitting dentures, as the teeth are secured better, leading to fewer gum issues.

What does a dental implant procedure involve?

Generally speaking, it takes two appointments to place an implant, although it could take less time depending on your suitability for treatment. Our specialist will place the screw into your jaw at the first appointment. This can sound intimidating, but he'll apply an anaesthetic to your mouth - it might feel a little strange, but it won't hurt at all.

We must wait until the area has fully healed before we can place your new tooth permanently in your gum line. If you require it, we'll give you a temporary tooth to fill the gap in the meantime.

Once you've recovered, we'll screw the tooth onto the implant that has been placed in your mouth. This holds it in place and creates a seamless look between your new tooth and your gums. It looks entirely undetectable in your mouth and will flawlessly match the colour and shape of your natural teeth.

Our specialist will give you some aftercare instructions, and you may be given some painkillers. The area will feel a bit tender, and you might experience a bit of swelling; this is normal.

Can I have a smile makeover?

Implant treatment is usually an important aspect of a full smile makeover and will be incorporated into your treatment plan. However, we recommend completing other dental treatments such as Invisalign treatment and teeth whitening before undergoing restorative dentistry, as whitening treatments won't work on your implant.

How much do dental implants cost?

The price of treatment is entirely dependent on what your specific needs are. Please call the surgery, and we'll be pleased to arrange an initial consultation with you.
